Woke vs. Awake – TBC

According to Dame Merriam Webster the word ‘awake’ is an adjective describing a state of being fully conscious, alert, and aware: being not asleep. As an intransitive verb, it means to cease sleeping or to wake up or to become aroused or active again. It can also mean to become conscious or aware of something. Generally speaking, to be awake and aware is better than being asleep and ignorant. Sleep is important. Ignorance is dangerous and can lead to permanent sleep. By and by, billions of people are going to sleep and transitioning to death by many means.

The word ‘WOKE’, derived chiefly from U.S. slang, describes a state of being actively attentive to issues of racial and social justice. By itself, this definition is relatively benign. Justice and equality are important for all.

‘WOKE’s meaning has been hijacked and subverted in recent years. It’s original meaning and usage could be argued to be racist because it has the potential to be used to mock the race or origins of the person using the word as being unable to use the English language properly. The original word ‘WOKE’ was first used in the 1940’s and coined as a political term by black Americans and on through the ongoing racial justice era from the 60’s by black Americans.

By the mid 2010, the word experienced a revival after being adopted by domestic terrorist groups in the U.S. such as BLM and ANTIFA. It became a battle cry of tweeting, tiktokking facebookers. The word ‘WOKE’ was a call to arms to mobilize the mobs and terrorists into protests, riots, mayhem, assaults and murder. The rabid quest for justice was advanced by WOKENESS and led to the violation of the rights and freedoms of others.

WOKE has different intentions depending on the user. It has been weaponized by the left bent Socialists and Fascists and used by the uninfected right as a well deserved term of derision against the weaponizers.
