The Frankfurt School and Critical Theory
“The Frankfurt School, known more appropriately as Critical Theory, is a philosophical and sociological movement spread across many universities around the world. It was originally located at the Institute for Social Research (Institut für Sozialforschung), an attached institute at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. The Institute was founded in 1923 thanks to a donation by Felix Weil with the aim of developing Marxist studies in Germany. After 1933, the Nazis forced its closure, and the Institute was moved to the United States where it found hospitality at Columbia University in New York City.”
The academic influence of the critical method is far reaching. Some of the key issues and philosophical preoccupations of the School involve the critique of modernity and capitalist society, the definition of social emancipation, as well as the detection of the pathologies of society. Critical Theory provides a specific interpretation of Marxist philosophy with regards to some of its central economic and political notions like commodification, reification, fetishization and critique of mass culture.”

Enter Herbert Marcuse, a German Jew intellectual who studied ontological Hegellian philosophy under Martin Heidegger. Marcuse became a member of the Nazi party with aspirations to become the leading philosopher for National Socialism. Turns out his Jewishness turned into a personal liability after certain Nazi initiatives started ramping up. Marcuse fled to the United States in 1933 where he somehow landed a job with the US Office of War Information and Office of Strategic Services (now the CIA) to help fight the Fascists he so desperately wanted to rub swastikas with back home. After the war he stayed on the US government payroll as an intelligence analyst for the Department of State. How did he prove his loyalty to The U.S. of A?
He established himself as a political, sophist theorist, university rabble rouser, pop-counterculture icon and obscurantist author of theoretical, anti capitalist, perverse Freudian/Marxist tripe that so many young people were vulnerable to. He was courted as a brilliant intellectual by the inbred chattering champagne Socialists of the 50s and 60s. Almost everyone else just thought of him as an extremist pervert.

Critical Theory is the foundation of The Frankfurt School which was basically an ideological training ground for weak minded sexual deviants who would gleefully abandon all human decency to achieve Socialist orgasm through political action and violence. Critical Race Theory is the extension of the basic philosophy. ’If it feels good (virtuous), do it!’
