Funny not funny how so many institutions and business enterprises have declared that they are totally committed to our health, safety and well being. Funny not funny how the phrase ‘Never let a crisis go to waste’ has become a popular counter narrative signal.

Perhaps the greatest example of this is what happened to the real estate left after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Terrorists freed up a lot of exciting new retail space for tourists to buy trinkets.

Advertising companies and ad writers seem to have had a ready arsenal of tropes and catch words to help them lure their audience into buying things they can’t afford. Perhaps this is what makes people angry enough to destroy their world. Perhaps this is what incites people to riot and loot – to get some stuff they can’t afford or junk they think they deserve.
