Subject: FW: Moving Forward With Confidence
Dear Premier Danielle Smith,
As many of us move into the new year with confidence that our provincial government is taking important steps to fight federal government overreach, many of us still have some important questions. Many of us have received numerous requests for donations before the end of 2023 by the provincial and federal conservative parties and we are now being reminded that our UCP memberships are coming up for renewal. Many of us were very active in the welcome UCP victory of this past provincial election.
It is surreal and notable that the main theme of the most recent World Economic Forum’s gathering in Davos, Switzerland is to regain trust and declare that the greatest threat to our world is ‘mis’ and disinformation. Is this unelected world government body admitting that they have lost something that they never had with the common 99% of people in the first place? What should a majority of Albertans think on this as they struggle with unchecked inflation, taxation, higher costs of heating and eating, failing healthcare and the continued federal assault on out Charter of Rights and Freedoms?
The main theme for Alberta’s, (our) elected government in this new year should be to re-establish trust in the Democratic institutions that we once held as important and inviolable. Transparency and accountability for peace and prosperity are key to this theme. With this, there are several important questions that require answers.
- What is the current status of the four Coutts political prisoners that are still being denied justice? Why have Anthony Olienick, Chris Carbert, Christoper Lysak, and Jerry Morin been held under inhuman conditions without bail or due process for more than 700 days? These four men represent the suspension of our charter rights that took place during Alberta’s pandemic response. Since the pandemic response and The Emergencies Act have been judged to be unlawful or unconstitutional and many charges are being dropped, why has there been no movement to see that, especially these four men, receive due process? Can this situation be a catalyst to replacing the RCMP in Alberta? So many lives and livelihoods have been ruined during the authoritarian measures that were enacted. Many lives were and are being damaged and lost. If confidence in our legal system is to be restored, any outstanding matters before the courts need to be addressed, expedited or thrown out.
- Has our provincial government acknowledged the inquiry and evidence of the National Citizen’s Inquiry and is it going to use this important document as a basis for determining accountability and transparency for Alberta’s pandemic response as well as developing policy and safeguards against a repeat of past events? Will this be part of the much needed rebuilding of Alberta Health Services and The College of Physicians and Surgeons? This will be another trust building process.
- What is the status of the proposed Alberta Pension Plan to prevent the further inequities and abuse of Alberta’s contributions to the CPP and to secure future, living retirement for Albertans?
- What is the status of the movement to regulate Alberta’s disproportionate transfer payments to provinces that align themselves with harmful federal government overreach?
- With reference to question three – Is our provincial government committed to full transparency on the statistics and other information that could explain the relationship of vaccination statistics and the incidents of injury and deaths classified as unspecified or unknown? This alarming information is becoming more mainstream elsewhere. Why not in Alberta?
- Are there plans and actions to make revisions to the Municipal Government Act that reflect greater transparency and accountability? Our local governments seem to be run as corporations and public/private partnerships working in lockstep with non-government organizations such as the UN, UNESCO, The World Economic Forum, the CMRB and ICLEI?
Many Albertans are ready to hear of further motions to secure provincial sovereignty and prosperity but eventually, and hopefully soon, these words must be expressed as confident and positive action. I am personally considering not renewing my UCP membership not out of resignation or disillusionment but out of concern and protest for positive change. I have submitted several communications to various ministries and MLAs in the past and have found some responses to be either less than substantive or non-existent. Even an automated acknowledgement is a non-response. Non-responses speak volumes. Non-responses clearly lack transparency and speak of a lack of accountability and a separation of the ruling class from the electorate – something that we have come to expect from the current federal government.
I look forward to your response and will share your substantive answers to these questions with like minded Albertans.
Sincerely,
Al Neitsch
Airdrie, Alberta
