To All Elected and Unelected,
As Remembrance Day approaches and as we pick and choose what holds our attention, perhaps we could also pause and reflect in advance on whether November 11th still has relevance in our Canada. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a flawed document to be sure and needs reform, but it is the very foundation of our Democracy and doubtless helped guide Canada in it’s participation and sacrifice to go to war against totalitarian regimes that threatened the world and killed millions of people worldwide. Canada is at a crossroads. It has been led down a path to a promised ‘post nation state’ by a government that seeks to overturn and nullify any source of national pride or unity and one that attacks positive core values and the personal sovereignty of individuals and families. The other path open to us is one that could rediscover what was and is good about being Canadian in a sovereign Canada.
