The thing is, White Haven, Montana is a place on a map. GPS and Google Maps can’t pinpoint it. Driving around and asking for directions was quite painful. The folks in Libby didn’t know but tried to help. One gas station attendant helpfully offered that White Haven is a weather report area. Another gas station attendant told me that it was further north. I didn’t go further north. I drove up to the first property in the area that had people on it. I told a nice white lady that I was lost, that I was looking for White Haven. She laughed and said, “Welcome to White Haven honey”. Her property was probably the nicest in the neighbourhood, flowers, green grass, paint. The rest of the properties were mostly ramshackle trailers and clapboard houses with years of clutter and broken down cars out front. I saw a lot of ‘Back The Blue’ lawn signs. As a whole, the community reminded me of images of Indian or First Nation communities or Brazilian favelas. That there was evidence of poverty and despair in the greatest nation on earth was nothing new. There are slums from Los Angeles to San Francisco to Santa Fe to Houston to St. Louis to Baton Rouge to Detroit to Edmonton to Calgary…every country, province and state really. Rural slums are more sad than urban slums. Agenda 30 is slowly clearing out and gutting rural communities…no matter the colour.
Tent cities for the homeless and drug zombies are all the rage.
Safe cities.
Strong cities.
What happened after those BLM riots?
Is St. George in heaven?
Is Critical Race Theory still a thing?
The rural folk are hanging on.
They linger.
They don’t want to be stepped on.
Of note is that except at gas stations, hotels and convenience stores, there were no coloured folk to be seen…anywhere. Where do they live? What have the white folk done with all the coloured folk?
Those pesky white colonialist, slave owner, extreme right wing oppressor folk.
Where is their last bastion?
Where will they make their last stand?
