Dear Premier Smith, Do We Have Property Rights? Will Anyone Be Truly Happy?

Social Studies

The following letters were sent in response to recent developments in the U.N.D.R.I.P. agenda being rolled out in Canada and just about everywhere else. The Cultural Marxist influenced policies being enacted to bring about a New World Order and ensure that we will own nothing, happy or not. Mostly not. Writing letters to politicians expecting a substantive or reassuring response falls into the ‘faint hope’ file, a memory hole void. The non-responses can only be interpreted as a welcoming to current conflicts and the escalation to come. Only oppressed peasants will be inured to poverty and owning nothing. Only a mind controlled population would be happy about it.

Dear Premier Danielle Smith,

This letter is to follow up on a letter sent to you on Feb. 10, 2026 which is attached below. While awaiting your response to this letter there has been related news from B.C. The federal government has signed ‘landmark’ agreements with the Musqueam First Nation that formally recognize Musqueam’s Aboriginal rights, including Aboriginal title, within their traditional territory. These agreements, quietly signed in February and March 2026, are to establish a framework for the ‘incremental’ implementation or rights through a nation-to-nation relationship. This ‘Rights Recognition Agreement’ is to acknowledge Musqueam’s title and creates a structured path for shared decision-making over lands and waters in Metro Vancouver, including areas like Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, and the University of British Columbia. This recent decision has some very serious implications for land use, development approvals, and actual property rights for property owners not just in that region but for all provinces and even whether territories are treaty ceded or not.

It also requires answers to more very serious questions that are additional to the ones posed in the previous letter.

  1. What exactly of the ‘Rights Recognition Agreement’ has been recognized?
  2. What does this mean for existing land title owners?
  3. How will this affect municipal and provincial land authority?
  4. Why was this decision made now?
  5. How does this decision tie in with the City of Airdrie’s pronouncement to ‘adopt and implement United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as the framework for reconciliation at all levels of government.’
  6. Notwithstanding the the ever increasing property tax burden being placed on property owners in Airdrie and other municipalities, and the threat of equity taxation from the federal government, how would loss of title affect taxation?
  7. Are there any protections in The Alberta Bill of Rights to against this obvious threat to property rights?

These are serious times requiring serious questions to be answered. Will you answer these questions?

Sincerely,

Al Neitsch

Letter of Feb. 10, 2026:

Subject: Recent Pronouncements From City Of Airdrie

Dear Minister Dan Williams,

Recent pronouncements from City of Airdrie are deeply concerning. From an article published in Airdrie City View of Feb. 5, 2026 : ” In a unanimous vote, city council approved a new land acknowledgement policy aimed at recognizing the ancestral lands and historical relationships of indigenous peoples. “ The headline proclaims :  “Airdrie Council Takes Next Step In Reconciliation Journey”. It would seem that the key step to be adopted is Action 43 which calls to adopt and implement United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as the framework for reconciliation at all levels of government. The article only cites these ‘next steps’ as being the result of dealings between ‘administration’ and outside consultants and other ‘reconciliation groups’ that have not been named, but not the citizens of Airdrie

You must be aware of a recent court decision in British Columbia as well as actions in other provinces that could render some land titles “defective and invalid,” because of Aboriginal title claims. The decision is being appealed, but the British Columbia government has already put up $150 million to backstop mortgages and loans in that area. This decision has potentially significant nationwide significance, particularly relating to private property rights. It is alarming to think that this devisive and controversial political activism is taking hold in Alberta as well. Following are some questions that should be responded to.

  1. Is there any legislation that allows or prevents municipal councils from adopting programs and agendas from non-government organizations?
  1. How does this fall within the purview of municipal councils? Mayor Spearman has committed publicly to “Stay focused on the things cities are actually responsible for, like services, infrastructure, safety and quality of life in Airdrie”. Committing our city to U.N.D.R.I.P. without consent of the citizens of Airdrie represents a conflict of priorities that should be questioned and corrected.
  1. Would this recent action by City of Airdrie administration, one that poses a potential threat to property rights and a charter violation, not require some public consultation, plebiscite or referendum?
  2. Where are the next steps on this journey cited in the proclamation to lead?

I request a substantive response to these questions.

Sincerely,

Al Neitsch

Windsong, Airdrie
